Can we put a price on peace?
We try to. We think that if we have enough money, we’ll have financial peace. We think that if we attend enough services and read our Bible enough, we’ll have spiritual peace. If we eat right and exercise, we’ll have physical peace. Then, if we can find that special someone, we’ll have emotional peace.
But, trying to find peace in anyone or anything other than Jesus is a false peace. It will not provide the peace we seek, because ONLY Jesus can fill that hole in our hearts. He paid the price for us to have His peace. This is a heavenly treasure that we can experience on Earth.
We are human and we live in a fallen world. Trials and tribulations are normal and should be expected. In fact, the Bible tells us to rejoice that we have to endure trials and tribulations because they produce a perfection in us that could not be achieved another way.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you face trials of many kinds. James 1:2
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:1-5
Thankfully, we can have God’s peace because Christ overcame what we could not.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
